MANILA, Philippines – A real estate developer has tapped the technology of SAP to boost its operations and to aid its 10-year expansion plan to put the company at par with its competitors.
In a press conference on Monday, Ortigas & Co. chief operating officer Rex Drilon II said the expansion plan would include the construction of several residential and commercial establishments.
Ortigas & Co. is known for real estate projects such as Circulo Verde, Greenhills Shopping Center, Tiendesitas, and Frontera Verde.
Drilon said that with the use of SAP technology, the company would be able to efficiently store and manage its entire database and improve operational efficiency.
SAP Philippines country manager Jennie Ligones said that Ortigas & Co. has implemented BT properties, a "complete business solution tailored for the real estate industry."
"Ortigas & Co. entered into this strategic partnership with SAP Philippines to improve on operational efficiency and the ability to maintain a centralized database. One of Ortigas & Co.'s key objectives is to integrate its financials into a system that allows its management to make crucial decisions faster and increase its financial competitiveness," SAP Philippines said in a statement.
Drilon said that with the aid of SAP, they would be able to efficiently store and manage information, especially since the company is eyeing around P100 billion in investments in the next five years.
While Drilon declined to say how much the company invested for SAP, he said that it was a "significant investment."
Five projects slated for the next five years amounting to P20 billion investments each are: expansion of Circulo Verde, Capitol Commons, One Galleon Place, Frontera Verde, and the re-development of Greenhills Shopping Center, Drilon said.
"These are very large projects and you cannot use a simple system to support your database," Drilon said.
He said that prior to shifting to SAP, Ortigas & Co. found it "challenging" to manage multiple systems for different business functions.
With SAP, the company aims to "standardize reporting and manage information exchange formats with the integration of solution into its core business processes. Transaction processes and overall employee productivity is also expected to improve," SAP said.
Drilon said the company was expected to fully migrate to SAP by the end of 2010.
