Germany's SAP: Concerned About Oracle's Proposed Sun Deal
FRANKFURT -(Dow Jones)- German business-software giant SAP AG (SAP) Wednesday said it is concerned about Oracle Corp.'s (ORCL) proposed takeover of Sun Microsystems Inc. (JAVA) in regards to the future of the Java computer language and as to what choices will be left for customers in the database business.
SAP said it has expressed these concerns to the European Commission.
SAP's comments come after the Wall Street Journal Europe wrote Friday in an editorial dubbed "Review & Outlook: SAP's 'Invitation' to Oracle" that "some observers have questioned whether the Commission is holding up the merger at the urging of Germany's SAP."
