The Beauty of SAP Business ByDesign

Having the "human" side of business software in focus, with Business ByDesign, SAP created a product that is as easy to work with as these common applications.
Easy to learn – Particularly in midsize companies, employees have more than one role and many different responsibilities, so having a consistent design helps reduce learning times. This consistency was achieved by using "pattern-based UI design". Rooted in architecture, pattern-based UIs offers universally reusable solutions to frequently occurring problems. In ByDesign, if a user performs a similar task (like searching for an invoice or a sales order), he or she can do so in exactly the same way throughout the entire solution.
Easy to adapt – SAP Business ByDesign is a standard software solution, but it offers customers and end-users the flexibility to adapt the system to their individual needs in an easy way. To encourage the emotional aspect of the business software, the ByD solution offers several customization options. The customer can integrate the company's logo, change the corporate colors, and add custom fields to screens. Even end-users can individualize the solution to match their style of work. They can, for example, personalize their homepage to show only information important and relevant to them.
To get an exact impression of what users really need, we had to listen to users and customers and incorporate their feedback into the solution from the earliest conceptual stages of development. Thousands of UI prototypes were iterated upon directly with customers and users all over the world. And, in the end, such a user-centered approach works! According to a usability study conducted by the Steinbeis Institute, users are able to perform 93% of 50 key business tasks in SAP Business ByDesign without any training.
